State attorney generals mull charges on BP regarding oil spill

by Calickizzle
Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 02:27pm Juneau Smog Blog Post Permalink Blog Post Trackback Read/Leave Comments Juneau Smog Twitter Retweet State attorney generals mull charges on BP regarding oil spill
Eric Holder is meeting today with the state attorneys of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama to consider pressing charges on BP regarding the oil spill disaster.

I'm curious, are the state attorney generals Holder is meeting who are looking for legal support from the federal government the same ones who are filing briefs challenging the federal government regarding health care reform?

Oh, the irony….

Let’s re-examine that “Drill Baby Drill” chant a little more closer, shall we?

Is there anything more ironic than "Drill Baby Drill" Republicans criticizing Obama on this BP Oil Spill?  (Besides Sarah Palin being considered some sort of expert on oil and energy, or being "qualified" to be Vice President, of course.)

Quick & easy commercial to guarantee victory for the Democrats in the mid-terms: show images of "Drill baby Drill" from the 2008 RNC over shots of the BP Oil Spill.  Ta da.  Victory all but guaranteed.

Al Qaida’s No. 3 man gets killed, upsetting Dick Cheney

This news makes Dick and Liz Cheney sad.

Its hard to call Obama "soft on terror" when top al Qaida and members of the Taliban keep getting killed.

The Cheneys would prefer it if America was successfully attacked by terrorists. That would make their shriveled little hearts double in size with glee!

Israel ends its spell on non-douchebag behavior

by Calickizzle

Israel must have decided it had been too long since it acted like a complete douchebag, therefore deciding to attack an unarmed aid group in international waters in violation of maritime laws, killing dozens of activists, most of whom were from Turkey.

It will be a sad day for Israel when their only international ally is fellow pariah North Korea.

Will North Korea’s belligerence renew the Korean War?

by Calickizzle

North Korea says that South Korea is taking steps to start a war.

Really? Funny, I think an unprovoked sinking of a navy ship and killing all aborad might be the actual step towards starting a war.

Silly me…

And I'm sure the conservatives will start criticizing Obama for picking on poor ol' North Korea, correct?

How the BP spill could affect the mid-terms, pt. VI

by Calickizzle
Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 12:52pm Juneau Smog Blog Post Permalink Blog Post Trackback Read/Leave Comments Juneau Smog Twitter Retweet How the BP spill could affect the mid-terms, pt. VI
Since it was Bush-Cheney's MMS and Energy Task Force that allowed this BP spill to occur, should we consider the spill "Bush's Katrina?" Oh, that's right, the original Katrina was Bush's Katrina. Maybe this spill is "Bush's Katrina, pt. II?"

It's interesting just how we haven't head anything from either Shrub or Cheney.  And how suddenly all the anti-government Tea Baggers are demanding help from the federal government in cleaning up this spill.

As the saying goes: "There are no libertarians in a natural disaster."

Police chiefs criticize Arizona’s anti-immigrant law

by Calickizzle

What's this?  Police chiefs rightly state that Arizona's anti-immigrant law will do nothing to reduce crime, but instead increase immigrants' vulnerability to super-predators, who will be bale to beat, rob, and rape immigrants at will, because the victims would be unable to call the police?

But, its cool because immigrants are brown, and therefore are a subclass of humans.  They don't serve to have police protection…

How the BP oil spill might affect the 2010 mid-terms, part V

by Calickizzle
Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 02:18pm Juneau Smog Blog Post Permalink Blog Post Trackback Read/Leave Comments Juneau Smog Twitter Retweet How the BP oil spill might affect the 2010 mid-terms, part V

Has anyone seriously thought they would want President Obama to do? Seriously?

The government has deregulated, privatized, and outsourced such technical expertise for the past few decades, to the point where its allowed industry leaders write their own regulations. Can someone point out the Office of Oil Spill clean-up? Does the military have the technology to fix an oil leak 5000 feet below sea level? Really? Tell me when its done that!

And Sarah “drill baby drill” Palin tries score political points with the donation BP gave Obama. Well, which is it Tea Baggers. Is Obama being “un America”- according to Rand Paul- by saying he’ll “put the boot on the throat” of BP, or is he too “cozy” with the oil companies, according to Sarah Palin?

The fact is this oil leak is unprecedented, which is undeniable. Obama will say that in his press conference tomorrow, for which he’ll be mocked by Fox News.

There is a good chance this leak will NEVER be fixed, and the GOP would like nothing more than for Obama to shove aside BP and take “ownership” of this oil leak despite the federal government’s lack of expertise and technology, that way the federal government could be correctly blamed for the continual spilling of oil as opposed to pinning the blame on their precious “free market” and “private corporations”, whose failures become publicly owned.
